About Hearts for Homeless:

Hearts for Homeless supports and empowers people experiencing homelessness to achieve stable housing by facilitating their social reintegration and providing them with the resources, knowledge, and mental and emotional support they need to navigate their journey home. Hearts for Homeless is based in the Bay Area, San Francisco.

About MESA:

We believe that homelessness is not just a housing issue, but a social issue that requires a holistic approach. Our client advocacy program is a new model for service provision called Mental and Emotional Support Advocate (MESA). MESA volunteers work one-on-one with clients for a minimum of 6 months, providing personalized guidance, emotional support, and help navigating complex services and resources.

About this Role:

We are seeking a Volunteer Recruiter to help identify, engage, and recruit new MESA volunteers so we can expand our reach and serve more clients.

As our Volunteer Recruiter, you will:

• Help post and promote MESA volunteer opportunities online and in-person/at events.

• Assist with outreach and follow-up to interested applicants

• Brainstorm and implement creative recruitment strategies

• Collaborate with the Hearts for Homeless team to understand volunteer needs and refine outreach

• (Optional) Help organize virtual info sessions or onboarding materials

We’re looking for someone who is:

• Passionate about the mission of supporting people experiencing homelessness

• A good communicator, enthusiastic, and organized

• Outgoing, engaging, and comfortable using email, social media, or online platforms (or willing to learn - we can provide guidance!)

• Available ~3 hours per week (schedule is flexible)

Your work will directly increase the number of MESA volunteers, which means more clients can receive the long-term, compassionate support they need to overcome barriers and achieve housing stability.
