    Description

    JOB SUMMARY

    This position covers visiting patient rooms throughout the hospital and delivering patient items (flowers, meals, etc.) Talking to patients and noting their issues and concerns. The Ambassador may also assist with patient/visitor greeting at unit nursing stations and facility entrances.

    SKILLS REQUIRED

    Good people skills. Desire to assist patients with their problems and concerns and take the initiative to follow through to resolve the problems.

    EDUCATION

    The volunteer is required to be literate. A high school diploma (or equivalent) is preferred but not required. The volunteer must be able to show compassion and understanding of patient needs, wants and concerns and follow through to resolving the problems.

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

    Sit, stand, walk, push/pull, bend and reach as needed. Needs to be able to hear and understand problems.

    JOB DUTIES

    Job duties are dependent on the specific concerns, problems and issues that the patient/visitor discusses with the Ambassador. It is the duty of the Ambassador to bring the patient problems and concerns to the attention of the head nurse, area supervisor and/or Floor Director and resolve/discuss the patient issues. Ambassador is responsible for providing friendly greetings and may assist with patient/visitor navigation throughout the facility. Ambassador visits patients and brings water, blankets or friendly conversation. May wheelchair transport patients to discharge locations and awaiting vehicles.

    1 shift available:

    • 2 shifts are available- 8am- 12noon and 12noon - 4pm: 08:00 to 16:00 EST
