Huntington Hospital is currently expanding its Reichert Family Caregiver Support Program.
This free hospital-based program offers emotional support, education and community resources from trained volunteer caregiver coaches and social workers. We recognize that when loved ones are ill, both the patient and their caregivers suffer. Our goal is to help reduce that suffering through empathetic listening and giving them the tools they need to get through difficult times.
We are searching for committed Volunteers who have experience in caregiving, either personally or professionally, to provide guidance and support as Caregiver Coaches. We are asking our Coaches to commit to one day a week (of their choosing), for a minimum of 4 hours. In this role you will have the option of working remotely or coming into the hospital. Our team will provide training and education for our Coaches and will partner with them so that they are comfortable in the role. You would be interacting with families both in person and/or on the phone. An important part of this program is something we call "Stay in Touch," which involves regularly scheduled follow up phone calls with individuals who wish to have this service.
We hope to have our Reichert Family Caregiver Center open later this year. Once we open, we will be looking for volunteers to be greeting and guiding our families. Help us make a difference for our caregivers and our community.
ALL VOLUNTEERS ARE REQUIRED TO BE FULLY VACCINATED FOR COVID-19
