    Description

    The Locke Foundation is a volunteer-run organization dedicated to preserving and promoting the history, culture, and legacy of Locke, California—a National Historic Landmark. Founded in 1915, Locke is a historic rural Chinatown that stands as a living monument to Chinese American contributions to American history. The Foundation manages the Locke Boarding House Museum, a unit of California State Parks, and educates the public through exhibitions, events, and historical preservation efforts.

    Volunteers are an integral part of the Locke Foundation, and contribute in a number of ways:

    • Education-- Successful graduates of the Docent Training Program lead tour groups and answer questions from visitors.
    • Events -- Assists Foundation with several cultural and fundraising events throughout the year.
    • Collections and Archives -- Work alongside Foundation staff to help catalogue artifacts and conduct oral history interviews with Locke residents
    • Media and Outreach -- Assists Foundation with creating video and audio for social media and educational purposes.
