    Description

The Gift of Time and Support: Make a Difference for Families Facing Memory Loss

Have you experienced the challenges and emotional toll of caring for a loved one with memory loss? At The Gathering at Lyngblomsten, you have a unique opportunity to offer vital respite and bring moments of joy to families navigating this journey.

We are seeking compassionate volunteers to provide a supportive and engaging environment for individuals in the early stages of memory loss. By offering a much-needed break for caregivers, you directly contribute to their well-being and the strength of their family unit.

As a Respite Volunteer, you will:

    • Share Joyful Moments: Participate in staff-led, engaging activities such as puzzles, gentle movement, music, creative crafts, and storytelling, fostering connection and stimulation for our participants.
    • Offer Meaningful Companionship: Provide one-on-one encouragement and build genuine connections in a supportive 2:1 participant-to-volunteer ratio. Your presence can make a world of difference.
    • Become Part of a Caring Community: Join a warm and welcoming team of fellow volunteers who share a passion for making a positive impact.

Time Commitment: The Gathering offers a 4-hour program on multiple days each week at our St. Paul (Como) and Lino Lakes locations (volunteer time: 9:30 am - 2:15 pm). Choose the location, days, and shifts that best fit your schedule.

    The Rewards of Volunteering:

    • Provide Invaluable Support: Directly ease the burden on caregivers, allowing them time to recharge and attend to their own needs.
    • Experience the Joy of Connection: Build meaningful relationships with participants and witness firsthand the positive impact of your presence.
    • Join a Compassionate Community: Connect with others who understand the challenges and rewards of supporting families affected by memory loss.
    • Receive Comprehensive Training: We provide you with the knowledge and skills needed to confidently and effectively support our participants.

    Requirements:

    • A compassionate and patient heart.
    • Successful completion of a DHS background study with fingerprinting (state requirement for working with vulnerable adults).
