Our mission is to give peace of mind to military personnel, knowing their beloved pets are safe and well-cared for while they serve our country. We rely on passionate and dedicated volunteers to bring our mission to life, making a positive impact on the lives of both military families and their pets.

    Position Overview:

Are you passionate about community engagement, event coordination, and supporting military families? Dogs on Deployment is seeking a San Diego Community Coordinator to help us expand our impact locally. In this key volunteer role, you will identify and participate in community events, recruit new volunteers, develop partnerships with businesses, and represent Dogs on Deployment at military and public education fairs. This position is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys networking, building relationships, and creating meaningful community connections.

We are looking for a North County and South County Coordinator. Some of the items can be done remotely however events and briefs are in person.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Research local events, festivals, and fairs where Dogs on Deployment can participate.
    • Coordinate our presence at these events, including booth setup, staffing, and materials distribution.
    • Promote Dogs on Deployment’s mission to event attendees, sharing how the community can get involved.

    2. Volunteer Recruitment

    • Develop strategies to recruit new volunteers to fill essential roles within the organization.
    • Host orientations or information sessions to onboard volunteers and educate them about our mission and opportunities.

    3. Building Relationships with Local Businesses

    • Cultivate relationships with local pet stores, veterinary clinics, and other pet-related service providers.
    • Seek partnerships, sponsorships, or in-kind support to further our outreach and mission impact.

    4. Representing Dogs on Deployment at Education Fairs and Presentations

    • Attend education fairs, military events, and school presentations to spread awareness about our services.
    • Prepare and deliver engaging presentations that highlight volunteer opportunities and the organization’s impact.

    5. Community Engagement and Outreach

    • Act as the primary point of contact between Dogs on Deployment and the San Diego community, fostering a positive and proactive presence.
    • Respond to inquiries from community members, partners, and volunteers promptly.

    Qualifications:

    • Passion for Dogs on Deployment’s mission and supporting military service members and their pets.
    • Strong interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills.
    • Well-organized, self-motivated, and able to manage time effectively.
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
    • Access to reliable transportation to attend events and community meetings.

    Benefits:

    • Impact: Make a meaningful difference in the lives of military families and their pets.
    • Experience: Gain hands-on experience in event coordination, volunteer management, and community outreach.
    • Networking: Build connections with local businesses, volunteers, and community leaders.
