Hospice: Patient Companion Volunteer (small, local hospice)

Woud you like to be a companion visitor? Companion visitors usually visit a person once a week- you can talk, watch tv, do homework, do a puzzle, or just hold someone’s hand at the bedside- we provide a whole list of activities you can do. If you prefer, our volunteer coordinator can accompany you on your first visit (we know your first visit can be a little scary). You can visit in someone’s house or at a facility- whatever you prefer. We also work with you to find someone near your home. Our schedules are flexible and our team is AMAZING! We value everbody’s unique input and experience so every person feels invested in our organization.

We welcome volunteers with an array of talents and skills including students studying healthcare related fields, administration, social work, marketing, and religion. No experience needed- WE WILL TRAIN YOU! We are also looking for individuals with special skills: beauticians, musicians, those with creative, artistic talents, and veterans (to visit with patients who are veterans). Volunteers are required to complete a background check, a TB test, Covid vaccination, and an orientation. We also ask that you wait a bereavement period of one year following the death of a loved one.
