The Berkeley Food Network is looking for volunteer drivers & co-pilots for our Home Delivery Program!
Berkeley Food Network (BFN) uses an innovative, community-centered approach to food sourcing and distribution. BFN’s Home Delivery Program is designed to provide supplemental groceries to all Berkeley residents who:
- Can cook at home
- Cannot access BFN or other Alameda County Food Pantries themselves
- Have no one in their community who can pick-up groceries for them
- Do not already receive any meals or delivered groceries from another organization
We are looking for volunteer drivers and co-pilots to deliver groceries to community members' homes. This is a great opportunity to build connections with neighbors and other volunteers. Volunteers deliver two boxes of groceries to about eight members in Berkeley.
Shift times:
Wednesdays | 1pm to ~2 pm
Requirements for co-pilots and drivers include that volunteers:
- are available on Wednesdays from 1pm to ~2 pm
- can see yourself volunteering regularly (every week or every other week on an ongoing basis with some flexibility)
- can lift and carry the grocery boxes (10-20 lbs)
Drivers must also:- be at least 18 years of age
- sign up for a shift with an experienced co-pilot before doing a driving shift
- fill out the BFN Driving agreements
- complete a Confidentiality Agreement
- provide a copy of a valid driver's license (front side only) for MRV review by our insurance company
- have a reliable vehicle you can drive
Please fill out our Volunteer Inquiry Form! The Volunteer Manager will will provide next steps for onboarding as a volunteer within 3 business days via email.
