    Description:

    Stillborn And Infant Loss Support (SAILS) is seeking two visionary leaders to serve as Co-Chairs of the Board. These individuals will share the responsibilities of guiding the board in setting strategic goals, ensuring effective governance, and supporting our mission to assist families affected by miscarriage, stillbirth, and infant loss.

    Responsibilities:

    • Jointly lead the Board of Directors and the Executive Committee, setting strategic goals and ensuring they are met.
    • Co-preside over board meetings, fostering a productive and inclusive environment.
    • Act as primary liaisons between the Board and the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), ensuring that the board’s directives and resolutions are carried out.
    • Oversee the recruitment, development, and contributions of board members, both in-kind and monetary.
    • Work closely with the CEO to guide organizational priorities, governance, and financial management practices.
    • Engage in major foundation grant solicitations and individual major gift fundraising in partnership with the CEO.
    • Represent and advocate for the organization’s mission to both internal and external stakeholders.

    Qualifications:

    • Proven leadership skills and the ability to motivate and engage others.
    • Strong commitment to the mission of supporting families affected by miscarriage, stillbirth, and infant loss.
    • Experience in board governance, strategic planning, and nonprofit financial management.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of effectively managing relationships with diverse individuals.
    • Ability to attend and actively participate in all board meetings and related activities (approximately 10-12 hours per month).
    • Previous nonprofit board member experience is highly desirable, particularly in a leadership role.

    Additional Details:

    • This is a volunteer position with a term of 2 years, renewable upon mutual agreement.
    • The Co-Chairs are expected to provide significant leadership roles in fundraising activities.
    • Location: Meetings primarily held virtually, with an in-person Board Retreat held in Laurel, MD.
    • These roles are suited for visionary leaders who are passionate about making a tangible difference in the lives of families dealing with profound loss. As Co-Chairs, you will champion our vision that no family should grieve alone, guiding SAILS through its next phases of growth and impact.
