    Description

Become a MADD SC Court Monitoring Volunteer in Greenville County

MADD Court Monitoring is an effort to track the outcome of misdemeanor DUI cases in several key counties, including in-court observation whenever possible. The data collected are used to produce occasional statewide reports that inform the public and policy makers about the issues that our state faces in DUI enforcement, prosecution, and adjudication, resulting in an unsatisfactory conviction rate. If first time DUIs are handled more appropriately, we should see fewer repeat offenses, which will prevent injuries and save lives.

MADD is seeking volunteers to be those in-court monitors under the guidance of our Court Monitoring Specialist for the area, allowing us to be in more courts and track more cases.

This volunteer opportunity is during day-time hours so is best suited for groups like college students, stay-at-home spouses, and retired adults. Training will be provided. The courts can be a very interesting place to observe, so we think volunteers will enjoy this opportunity and contribute to an important effort. Volunteer monitors can assist from one time a month up to a few times a month depending on availability and their schedule lining up with when the courts are hearing potential DUI cases.
