Due to COVID we are awaiting to hear what Special Olympics Minnesota decides to do with the 2021 Gymnastics Season, but we are still taking volunteers. Since 1976 we have been providing gymnastics to athletes with Special Needs.- Volunteers meet at Mini-Hops Gymnastics on Saturdays from 12:30-3:00pm for regular scheduled practices January to June. Volunteers assist in the training of the athletes in teaching both the artistic and Rhythmic gymnastics routines to our special needs athletes. There are two competitions; an area meet and the culminating MN Special Olympic State Games. Athletes range from 6 - 45 years old and varying abilities. Volunteers will assist trained gymnastics coaches during the practices. Volunteers need to be capable of physically assisting athletes and give verbal instructions. Gymnastics experience is not necessary, but very helpful. Experience working with people with intellectual disabilities iis very helpful, but not necessary.
Training is available for volunteer coaches in the area of gymnastics as well as through MN Special Olympics organization. Please complete our volunteer application here https://fs28.formsite.com/MHGymnastics/form34/index.html
