There's a long list of older adults waiting for volunteer help in the Falls Church, Mclean, Annandale, and Alexandria regions and not enough volunteers. If you could spare even 2 or 3 hours/month you could make a difference. Schedules are generally flexible. Volunteer Solutions volunteers provide an invaluable service by helping others age in place in their homes. They provide assistance to older adults, adults with disabilities, and family caregivers.
Social visitors meet with the person weekly to chat for approximately one hour, to help reduce isolation and feelings of loneliness. Sometimes, it's a phone call, but more often it's in-person.
Grocery shoppers are needed to either shop for the person or drive someone to the store, on average a couple of times per month.
Drivers are also needed for errands or routine medical appointments.
Thank you for considering these meaningful opportunities!
