    SCCM Clothing Closet

    Summary:

    The Clothing Closet provides affordable clothing and household items to the community while helping to raise funds for Stanly Community Christian Ministry (SCCM). Volunteers are essential in helping with sorting, organizing, and displaying donations, ensuring the store remains clean and welcoming for shoppers. Volunteers can choose shifts that fit their schedule, with opportunities to serve for half or full days from Monday through Saturday.

    Key Responsibilities:

    1. Sorting and Organizing Donations:

      • Sort through incoming donations, including clothing, shoes, toys, jewelry, and household items.
      • Check donations for quality and prepare them for the showroom floor.
    2. Hanging and Pricing Items:

      • Hang and display clothing items in an organized and appealing manner.
      • Assist with pricing items for sale based on guidelines provided by the Director.
    3. Showroom Maintenance:

      • Ensure the showroom floor remains tidy and well-stocked with new items.
      • Help with sweeping and mopping the floor as needed to maintain a clean shopping environment.
    4. Customer Assistance:

      • Provide a welcoming and helpful environment for shoppers.
      • Assist customers with questions or locating items when needed.

    Hours of Operation:

    • Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday: 9:30 AM - 5:00 PM
    • Wednesday: 9:00 AM - 2:00 PM
    • Saturday: 9:00 AM - 1:00 PM

    Volunteers can choose flexible shifts-either half days or full days-during these hours.

    Skills & Qualifications:

    • Friendly and customer service-oriented attitude.
    • Ability to organize and display items in an orderly fashion.
    • Physical ability to lift and carry donated items, move clothing racks, and assist with cleaning tasks.

    Donations Needed:

    • Children’s clothing, toys, shoes
    • Adult clothing (especially plus sizes)
    • Shoes, jewelry, household items

    Donations can be made during store hours or left in the donation container after hours (located to the left of the building).

    Training: Ms. Eva, the Clothing Closet Director, will oversee training to ensure volunteers are prepared for their duties.

    3 shifts available:

    • Monday-Friday: 08:00 to 12:00 EST
    • Saturday: 08:30 to 12:30 EST
    • Monday-Friday: 12:00 to 16:00 EST
