    Commitment Details:
    2 hours/week - Our students look forward to seeing their tutors each week! Tutoring opportunities are in-person, Monday – Thursday between 3 p.m. and 5 p.m. And if you have to miss a week, that's okay; we have substitute tutors to fill in.

    Your language gifts and a caring heart are all it takes! Through supported one-on-one tutoring, you will enable a child to overcome their challenges in school and thrive.

    Tutors receive all the training, materials, and weekly coaching required to help a second or third-grade girl or boy with reading and math.

    No prior experience is necessary, and we make it easy.

    Children Rising programs are structured so that it is easy for you to step in and be effective immediately. And you will work in a team environment supported by Children Rising staff and fellow tutors. The reward of watching a student complete the assignments they struggled with is priceless!

    A few details:

    We provide tutor training throughout the entire year. The Children Rising volunteer coordinator will help you register for an upcoming date.

    The schools we support are in Oakland Unified School District throughout the City of Oakland.

    We work around your schedule. Tutoring schedules vary and will be based on student and tutor availability during school hours.
