Children's Reading Zone Buddy -Cody Branch Library

Description
The Children’s Reading Buddy Zone at Cody Branch Library is a new pilot project to provide support to children who are reading below grade level. The children may be signed up by their parents and matched with a specific reading buddy, or they may be children who come to the library independently and are given the opportunity to read with a buddy. The primary age group is 2 nd grade, but we anticipate younger and older children may participate.
Volunteers will apply through San Antonio Public Library (SAPL) to complete the background check, and will be trained by San Antonio Youth Literacy ( SAYL). All materials will be provided by SAYL/SAPL. The volunteer commitment is one hour per week, M-F, 2:30-4:30PM for at least the duration of the pilot, mid-August through December 2025. O
