    Description

    About Our School:

Inter-American School (IAS) is a Christian, English language immersion school located in the beautiful highland valley of Quetzaltenango, Guatemala. We offer U.S. curriculum and instruction to students in pre-kindergarten through 12th grade. IAS was established in 1961, and has continued to grow and serve the educational needs of students from both international and local families. We strive to inspire students in academic achievement and to provide an authentic Christian environment that encourages students to demonstrate Christ-like behavior and be active disciples in their community.

Teachers at IAS are technically volunteer missionaries, but receive many benefits. Benefits of teaching at IAS include the following:

    • Small class sizes, typically under 15 students.
    • A close-knit community of fellow believers.
    • A U.S. academic calendar with generous paid time off. The school year runs mid-August to the end of May. There are breaks for Thanksgiving, Christmas (3 weeks), Easter (1 week), and other holidays.
    • Travel benefit to visit your home country each summer.
    • Monthly stipend that covers basic living expenses and personalized guidance on fundraising if you wish to supplement the stipend funds. The stipend continues throughout summer break for returning staff.
    • Free daily transportation for teachers who live within central neighborhoods.
    • Group health insurance and life insurance plans.
    • Financial and logistical coverage for all visa processing, fees and necessary travel.
    • Professional development funds to be used toward Spanish language lessons, further training and/or the payment of student loans.
    • The world's best climate–as Guatemala is known as the "Land of Eternal Spring"!

    About This Position:
