    Description

Healing Lives One Ride at a Time - Help Needed for Equine Assisted Therapy

    Welcome to Sundance Circle Hippotherapy!

Do you have a passion for connecting with children? Do you love being around horses?

Sundance Circle is looking for sidewalkers, horse leads and barn team members to assist our Physical, Occupational, and Speech Therapists during therapeutic riding sessions. Some of these roles may take place in the arena or in the barn/pastures, while caring for our hard working herd! These Volunteer opportunities support children and young adults with special needs as they receive this unique therapy; it's a fun and rewarding experience, and you would be helping to make a remarkable impact in someone's life.

    * The sidewalkers job is to monitor the patient/rider and help the therapist by supporting the patient, and ensure their safety, while riding the horse during the session.

    * The horse leads are responsible for getting the horse prepared/warmed up for each therapy session, and leading the horse during the session.

    * Barn team members give their time helping with various chores in and around the barn; to include herd turn-out and bring-in, cleaning stalls and pastures, and feeding horses.

The sessions take place in a covered arena and shielded from the elements; however, the arena is not temperature controlled. Good physical condition is highly recommended, as lots of walking is required.

Shifts typically last 1-2 hours and are available Monday through Saturday at various times, but typically from 8am-5pm. Questions regarding available shifts can be answered after training or as needed by the volunteer coordinator. New volunteers are required to attend a 1 hour orientation before sign-up permissions are given.

If you have questions, please do not hesitate to contact us. We're always looking for volunteers who are passionate about helping kids and ready to make a difference!
