    Description

“Compassion in Action: Community Volunteering and Buddhist Meditation in Sikkim”

Begin your journey in Kolkata serving children and poor communities, then travel to Sikkim’s Himalayan mountains for community projects, cultural immersion, and rare meditation lessons guided by Buddhist Masters in forest monasteries.

    Description

Step into a journey that blends service, culture, and spirituality. Begin in Kolkata, where volunteers work with underprivileged children, special-needs students, and poor communities through Noah’s Ark’s social programs. Then travel to Sikkim, a Himalayan sanctuary of forest-clad mountains and ancient monasteries, where volunteers support local women, youth, and children while discovering the region’s spiritual heritage.

The highlight of this experience is the rare opportunity to receive meditation lessons directly from Buddhist Masters in serene monasteries, combining service with deep self-discovery. Alongside volunteering, participants engage in cultural exchanges, handicraft training, eco-tourism activities, and treks through rivers, valleys, and tea gardens.

    Responsibilities

    • Volunteer with children, including those with special needs, in Kolkata and Sikkim.
    • Support training programs for women and youth in handicrafts, English, and digital skills.
    • Learn and practice guided meditation in Buddhist monasteries.

    • Respect and learn from local tribal philosophy, art, and traditions.

    Duration & Cost

    • 14 Days – $1,000–$1,200 (volunteering + eco-tourism + meditation lessons).
    • 21 Days – $1,300–$1,500 (full immersion: service, trekking, and spiritual practice).
