    Description

    William Temple House is seeking volunteers to help at the Front Desk in the Social Services Department, at our NW Portland location. Front Desk Volunteers should be comfortable working with a diverse array of people from various ethnic, social, and religious backgrounds and be able to work with vulnerable clients.

    Food Pantry Client Services Volunteers performs the following duties:

    • Assist and support the front desk staff person in greeting clients, directing clients, and answering questions.
    • Assist with the client intake process, as needed.
    • Assist clients with completing the 'Ready Bag’ food form.
    • Help accept in-kind donations.
    • Assist staff with the Food Pantry client lottery (to determine the order that clients can access the Food Pantry).

    Job Requirements:

    • Ability to communicate clearly and respectfully with fellow volunteers, staff, and occasionally challenging clients.
    • Respect confidentiality.
    • Be patient and have the ability to multi-task.
    • Be at least 18 years of age.
    • Make a 2 month volunteer commitment.
    • Pass a background check.

    Available Shifts:

    Currently available weekly shift is: Thursdays from 10:45am to 1pm.
