    Description

    Seeds in the Middle is super-fortunate to have received a grant from the Brookllyn Communities Collaborative to help decrease the tragically high rates of maternal and infant mortality among Black and Brown women.

    We have proposed a series of activities and are seeking partners either with great interest or expertise in helping us in preventive, healthy, joyful programs that we believe and hope can boost health outcomes for all.

    Please write to us with your background and interest. Students and graduate students - love to have you as part of your goals to achieve success and betterment in this space.

    We will be offering:

    1. healthy cooking classes for Mommy, Daddy and all loving adults and baby
    2. prenatal yoga
    3. Open play space for baby and toddlers - with nurturing cafe for caregivers
    4. Fresh Market with free coupons for expecting and new moms and famillies
    5. Mommy and Me classes, with music and movement, etc.
    6. Free baby showers offering needed supplies, like diapers, gently used baby clothes and needs, etc. (feel free to host one plus a free baby store)
    7. Free consults with doulas/midwives and those specialists dedicated to nurturing care of parents and babies
    8. Other suggestions...

    Locations:

    Crown Heights: Seeds in the Middle Community Action Spot, 318 Rogers Ave., Brooklyn, NY (at the corner of Montgomery Ave.) - we will be converting this open space where we also run a fresh market and refrigerate perishable fruits and veggies and do healthy cooking - to an open play space/cafe as a warm, welcoming place for all ages (seniors too)

    Brownsville: Place TBD but most likely Charity Baptist Church, 142 Watkins Street, Brooklyn

    • volunteer to run the play space at various times, especially mornings
    • for Brownsville - we want to do Saturdays

    We are interested in everyone who wants to truly make a difference and especially show kindness, gentleness, love to all, particularly our vulnerable moms and families.
