    About Us

Yuvoice - Empowering Voices, Amplifying Impact

Yuvoice is a dynamic organization dedicated to amplifying diverse voices and fostering meaningful conversations. We believe in the power of storytelling to educate, inspire, and drive positive change. Through our innovative podcast platform, we aim to create engaging content that resonates with our audience and promotes a deeper understanding of critical issues. We are committed to fostering a collaborative and inclusive environment where creativity thrives, and impactful stories are brought to life.

    Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced, creative, and thoughtful Volunteer Editorial Director of Work & Life to oversee the vision, quality, and growth of Yuvoice’s Work & Life editorial section. This role involves managing the work and quality of content of Yuvoice’s Work & Life Editorial section, both coming from in-house Staff Writers and external contributors, to ensure that the stories are compelling and relevant, with the writer’s voice given prominence, without clarity being compromised.

    Key Responsibilities

    Editorial Oversight & Content Strategy

    • Manage the Work & Life section, overseeing content from both in-house Staff Writers and external contributors.
    • Ensure that each story is engaging, high-quality, and relevant to Yuvoice’s mission-preserving the writer’s voice without compromising clarity.
    • Suggest topical and timely ideas to Staff Writers via the Commissioning Sheet for Staff Writers under "Story Ideas from Editors".
    • Actively participate in weekly Staff Writer meetings, contributing to brainstorming, story development, and theme expansion.
    • Collaborate with the Executive Editorial Director (EOC) to allocate new submissions to editors and ensure the New Article Log is regularly updated.

    Team Leadership & Recruitment

    • Help build andexpand the Work & Life editorial team, initially leading the recruitment of approx. 2 new Editors.
    • Collaborate with the People & Culture team to follow Yuvoice’s recruitment process: reviewing applications, conducting interviews, and onboarding.
    • Train and mentor new editors in coordination with the EOC to ensure smooth integration into Yuvoice’s editorial systems and standards.

    Internal Collaboration & Meetings

    • Actively participate as a member of the Editorial Leadership Team, attending the weekly Editorial Leadership meeting (Thursdays at 14:30 ET).
    • Join the fortnightly Staff Writers meeting (every other Sunday at 13:00 ET) to provide guidance and feedback.
    • Attend at least one of the weekly Editors meetings (Sundays at 11:00 ET or Tuesdays at 15:00 ET) to stay connected with the broader editing team.
    • Engage with team communications via dedicated Slack channels and contribute to a collaborative and inclusive culture.

    Qualifications

    • 5+ years of experience in editorial or journalism, including at least 2-3 years in a leadership role.
    • Strong editorial judgment with the ability to preserve a writer’s unique voice while elevating clarity and narrative.
    • Deep interest and experience in topics related to work, career, well-being, identity, and culture.
    • Experience managing editorial calendars, workflows, and content systems (e.g., Google Sheets, CMS platforms).
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; familiarity with remote team collaboration tools (Slack, Google Workspace).
    • Demonstrated commitment to inclusivity and diverse representation in storytelling.

    Preferred

    • Experience working in a nonprofit, mission-driven, or volunteer-based publication.
    • Prior involvement in team recruitment, training, and mentorship.
    • Ability to balance creativity with operational efficiency in a collaborative environment.

    What You’ll Gain

    • A key leadership role in shaping an impactful editorial voice on global work & life narratives.
    • Opportunities to mentor and grow editorial talent across borders.
    • A vibrant, supportive community that values both autonomy and collaboration.
