    Seeking Botanist/Horticulturist to Design Landscape for Open Source Sustainable Greenhouse

    One Community is a nonprofit all-volunteer sustainability think tank. Our volunteer team fluctuates between 150-200 team members and has included over 1400 volunteers representing more than 60 different countries. We create open source sustainability-focused components covering food, energy, housing, education, and more. Read the specifics of how and why here: https://www.onecommunityglobal.org/overview/

    We are seeking a Botanist, Horticulturist, or Landscape Architect to design and select plants for our sustainable greenhouse that will be integrated into our open source food production structures. Learn more about these structures here: https://onecommunityglobal.org/aquapinis-and-walipinis/

    SKILL REQUIREMENTS

    • Bachelor of Landscape Architecture, Botany, Plant Science, or a related degree (or near completion)
    • Access to AutoCAD and other necessary design software
    • Good mechanical aptitude and excellent problem-solving skills
    • Excellent documentation and communication skills in a remote work setting
    • Comfortable with, or willing to learn, Google Docs and Dropbox for collaboration
    • Minimum of 10 weekly volunteer hours (work from home)
    • Minimum 3-month time commitment

    Desired:

    • Experience working with structures designed for food production
    • Experience in sustainability-related design

    THE TASK

    We are seeking a Botanist, Horticulturist, or Landscape Architect to select the plants for our aquapini and walipini sustainable greenhouse structures: https://onecommunityglobal.org/aquapinis-and-walipinis/

    This role will help in ensuring optimal plant health and productivity by analyzing plant-specific requirements and integrating them into our greenhouse design and operations.
