    Description

Write for a Better Future: Use Your Voice to Create Change

    Have you experienced poverty firsthand?

Your voice and experience matter. You can help change policies, shift narratives, and build a more just future.

We’re inviting individuals with lived experience of poverty to join a small, supportive writing cohort. Together, we will turn our personal stories into public impact through media advocacy.

Over 10 weeks, you’ll connect with others who share similar life experiences and take meaningful action through the power of your words. We will provide a safe, creative environment to help you learn to tell your story with impact.

    What to Expect:

    · Bi-weekly virtual sessions (1 hour each) led by experienced facilitators

    · Opportunities to get together with others in the cohort once a month for writing workshops and connection. These will be in the Philadelphia area.

    · Guided workshops on oral storytelling, writing for impact, and connecting personal stories to policy

    · Support in drafting and submitting letters to the editor and op-eds to local media outlets

    · Opportunities to build relationships with legislative officials and journalists

    · A space to be heard, grow your confidence, and build community

    Time Commitment:

    · 1-2.5 hours per week, including group sessions and personal writing time.

    · All bi-weekly sessions are virtual and accessible. In person sessions are optional.

    · This will begin the week of September 8 and end the week of November 14

    Your Experience Matters

If you have personal experience with poverty and want to make a difference through writing and advocacy, we encourage you to apply for this opportunity.

People who have experienced poverty bring essential insight, truth, and urgency to advocacy. Sharing your story helps put our shared values into action and makes it harder for leaders to ignore what’s at stake. This is how we build power: together, and from the ground up.

No previous writing experience is necessary, just a willingness to share your story to create change.

Your voice is powerful. Use it to shift narratives, influence policy, and build a better future together. Apply now to be part of this transformative writing and advocacy journey.
