    • Various school locations are available.

Why should you help Toledo youth with literacy?

Because nearly 40 percent of kindergarteners in Ohio were not on track to read at their grade level during the 2023-24 school year, according to the state's K-4 Literacy Report published in January 2025. About 35 percent of first graders were not on track.

Roughly 36 percent of second and third graders were not on track in reading, the report shows. Its findings are based on state-approved reading diagnostic assessment results.
