The Babylon Breast Cancer Coalition offers a Be Smart About Your Health program to local schools. There are 3 different programs, each one targeting a different age group (Grade K-2, Grades 3/4 and Grades 5/6). The program does not address cancer, rather focuses on making smart choices for your health. The ideal volunteer will be a retired teacher, someone who has been fingerprinted. The program is BOCES approved, and will be done on an as requested basis, so it is not a regular weekly or monthly event. Schools usually book the program for a few classes on a given day, which would be confirmed with the presenter to make sure of your availability. The program uses a power point format and really engages the students.
