    Description

Volunteer with Kids on the Cheyenne River Sioux Reservation!

Join us in making a real difference. The Cheyenne River Youth Project (CRYP) is looking for passionate volunteers who want to empower Lakota youth and strengthen our community. Live and work on our campus in Eagle Butte, South Dakota, and experience the heart of Lakota culture firsthand.

    Why Volunteer with CRYP?

At CRYP, volunteers are more than helpers—they are part of our family. You’ll build meaningful relationships with Lakota youth, staff and the wider community while gaining hands-on experience in youth development, nonprofit leadership and cultural exchange.

Our volunteers often say the experience is life-changing. You’ll discover your own strengths while contributing to something larger: the future of our children.

    What You’ll Do

Volunteers contribute across CRYP’s programs and daily operations. Depending on your skills and interests, you may assist with:

    • Youth Programs: Help deliver arts, culture, wellness and leadership programming for children and teens.
    • Family Services: Assist with food distribution, household support and other community outreach.
    • Food & Wellness: Prepare nutritious meals and snacks for youth in our community center.
    • Operations: Support day-to-day tasks such as maintenance, gardening, and fundraising projects.

    Volunteer Options

    • Short-Term Volunteers
    • Stay for 1–3 weeks. Perfect for those on school breaks, service trips, or looking for an introduction to CRYP.
    • Long-Term Volunteers
    • Stay for 1–6 months. Ideal for those seeking a deeper experience and greater leadership opportunities.

    What to Expect

    • Volunteers put in meaningful hours each day, working closely with staff and youth.
    • Housing is provided on-site.
    • You’ll be immersed in a rural reservation community—rich in Lakota culture, history and resilience.
