Join us in making a real difference! The Cheyenne River Youth Project is looking for passionate volunteers who want to empower Lakota youth and strengthen our community. Live and work on our campus in Eagle Butte, SD, and experience the heart of Lakota culture firsthand.
Volunteers bring many different gifts and talents to CRYP and we strive to challenge these individuals and show them where they can be best utilized, so that they will feel a true part of our efforts. Most importantly, they are responsible for caring for our children. This is no small task, but rather the most significant contribution that a volunteer can make. When we place our children in the hands of volunteers, we are trusting them with our future.
We are looking for both the short and long term volunteers. Short Term Volunteers typically stay with us for 1-3 weeks, while Long Term Volunteers stay for anwhere between 1-6 months.
Among other tasks, they help staff implement much of the youth programming we do, aid in the delivery of family services, prepare nutritious meals and snacks for the children, and perform day to day operational tasks such as building maintenance and fundraising. Our volunteers put in long hours and lots of hard work but the experience is a life changing one.
Acceptance is contingent upon completing the application, an interview, and submitting a background check. Fees are determined by the length of stay. Let us know if you have any questions.
