Volunteers are matched with first and/or second grade students at participating Orange County Public Schools (OCPS). Once a week for half an hour, volunteers use a research-based curriculum to help students improve their vocabulary, reading fluency, and comprehension skills. In addition, volunteers provide encouragement and ongoing support for the students' personal development and growth as well as passing on a love of reading.
To participate in the program, prospective volunteers are required to submit an OCPS ADDitions volunteer application https://ocps.samaritan.com/custom/503/opp_details/109797, pass a background check, and attend a Read2Succeed new volunteer training session.
