    About Mentor A Promise

    Mentor A Promise (MAP) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting children and youth ages 5–18 experiencing housing instability in New York City. Through mentorship, academic enrichment, creative expression, and housing initiatives, MAP creates safe, consistent, and empowering spaces where young people can thrive.

    As part of MAP’s creative storytelling work, Threads of Voices explores the intersections of fashion, culture, sustainability, and social impact. The show celebrates designers, artists, and changemakers who use fashion as a medium for storytelling, community, and transformation. The Fashion Podcast Host will be the voice that brings these conversations to life, connecting creativity with purpose.

    Role Overview

    We are seeking a charismatic and insightful Fashion Podcast Host to lead engaging interviews and discussions for Threads of Voices. The host will guide conversations with designers, stylists, and innovators who are reshaping the fashion world through sustainability, inclusion, and creative storytelling. This role is ideal for someone who combines a deep love of fashion with strong communication skills and a passion for meaningful dialogue.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Serve as the primary host and interviewer for Threads of Voices podcast episodes
    • Research guests, fashion topics, and current trends in collaboration with the production team
    • Prepare thoughtful, well-structured interview questions that foster authentic and inspiring conversations
    • Introduce and frame episodes with engaging narration and cultural context
    • Collaborate with the creative and production teams to plan content calendars and episode flow
    • Represent MAP and Threads of Voices in a manner consistent with our values of equity, creativity, and empowerment
    • Support promotion of episodes through social media and cross-collaborations
    • Check and respond to emails daily, ensuring all responses are completed within 48 hours
    • Take responsibility for performance improvement by analyzing listener feedback and refining interview and hosting style

    Qualifications

    • Strong verbal communication, hosting, and interviewing skills
    • Background or interest in fashion, media, journalism, or cultural studies
    • Experience in hosting, public speaking, or storytelling preferred
    • Passion for fashion as a form of art, identity, and social commentary
    • Comfort with virtual and in-person recording environments
    • Collaborative spirit with openness to creative direction and teamwork
    • Familiarity with sustainability, ethical fashion, and cultural storytelling a plus

    Commitment

    • Volunteer role requiring approximately 5–10 hours per week (including prep, recording, and review)
    • Minimum 6-month commitment preferred
    • Remote-first, with opportunities for in-person recording in New York City
