    About Obu Lamu

    Obu Lamu is a community-based organization that supports the health, wellness, and quality education of children, families, and communities. We are dedicated to creating safe, inclusive spaces that foster growth, creativity, and empowerment through education, wellness programs, and community engagement.

    We are seeking a Project Coordinator (Volunteer) to assist our Creative Projects Manager in coordinating and delivering impactful projects. This role is remote and begins as an unpaid volunteer opportunity, but it offers meaningful experience in nonprofit project management, community-based work, and education initiatives.

    Key Responsibilities

    As Project Coordinator, you will support the Creative Projects Manager by:

    • Assisting in the planning and execution of projects and events.
    • Supporting the development of creative ideas for fundraising and engagement campaigns.
    • Helping coordinate team members, volunteers, and stakeholders to ensure smooth project delivery.
    • Contributing to relationship-building with donors, partners, and community members.
    • Tracking project timelines and tasks, flagging challenges, and sharing updates.
    • Documenting activities, results, and lessons learned for reflection and future planning.
    • Providing general administrative and communication support for projects.
    • Assisting in Social media and marketing

    Qualifications & Skills

    • Strong organizational and coordination skills.
    • Good communication and interpersonal abilities.
    • Ability to work independently and reliably in a remote setting.
    • Prior experience in project coordination, education, or nonprofit work is an advantage but not required.
    • A willingness to learn, grow, and contribute to a mission-driven team.

    Pathway to Employment

    • First 3 months: Volunteer period to familiarize yourself with Obu Lamu’s work, culture, and impact.
    • Next 6 months: Upon successful evaluation, you will proceed to a structured training program with a training stipend.
    • After training: Following a second evaluation, successful candidates will be considered for formal employment with Obu Lamu.
