    Description

Host a High School Exchange Student
Open your home to an international student.

Each year, around 1,000 exchange students from 90 countries come to the U.S. on AFS programs to study in high schools and live with host families.

Being a host family means volunteering to open your home to an international exchange student while sharing your culture and values, developing personal bonds that last a lifetime, and expanding your family’s cultural horizons.
Whether you just recently learned about hosting or it’s been on your mind for a while, isn’t it time you explored the possibility of bringing the benefits home to your family?
With the support of more than 4,000 trained volunteers nationwide, AFS Host Families get the benefits of hosting with the comfort of a support network that’s only a phone call away. Plus, each host family joins a friendly local chapter that gathers for info sessions, cultural events, mixers, and more. It’s a unique cultural learning experience that can’t be had in a classroom or by vacationing abroad, and that’s why we call it the "AFS Effect." Meet students coming to your area by visiting: afsusa.org/host-family/our- students.
Not sure where to find the answer to your questions? Contact us today, via email at hosting@afsusa.org or by phone at 1-800-AFS-INFO. You can also see students coming to your area this fall at www.afsusa.org/host-family/ our-students.
