Illness changes us. Having help on the journey can be a powerful tool.
Spiritual Care Companions are volunteers who, under the direction of the Hospital or Hospice Chaplain, provide compassion, active listening and kindness to our patients, families, friends and staff allowing them time to process matters of the heart, mind, soul and spirit. Spiritual Care companions look to bring hope, purpose, meaning and connectedness to the bedside of the people we serve each and everyday.
As a Spiritual Care Companion you must be open to the many cultural, spiritual, faith and non-faith based values we all hold. Your role on the spiritual care team team is to walk "alongside" someone in need of encouragement, a listening ear, prayer, and/or reassurance. Your tools could be reading from sacred texts, life experiences, an interest in various spiritualities and practices, CPE training and more.
Whether you wish to serve in the hospital or on our hospice team we are looking for volunteers who will join us in making a difference! Come help us support our patients and families right where they are at.
