    Description

We urgently need Foster homes for Adult Kitties.

Many of these adult kitties are surrendered to us or pulled from the shelter for various reasons, such as the owner's death, divorce, allergies, or moving out of the country.

A key component of our rescue program is the foster home. Without adequate numbers of foster homes, we are limited in how many cats we can take in at one time. The principle behind fostering is to provide the cats entrusted to our care with a home environment in order to evaluate their habits and behaviors and to offer the new owner more information on the cat. We need caring, responsible cat lovers to join our foster home team by opening their homes and hearts to our rescue cats.

13th St. Cats provides all food and cat supplies and pays for medical care for our fosters. Please open your heart and home to these cats on their journey to their forever home!

If you have any questions that aren't answered here, please contact us at: 408-566-3637 or info @13thstcats.org

What Will I Need To Do as a Foster Parent?

Foster homes are responsible for the daily care of the foster cat, including feeding, socializing, grooming, and of course, providing love and security to a special cat at an often difficult time in his or her life. You should have space, usually a spare room or bathroom, to house the fosters in, at least initially. If you have an existing cat, we recommend a separate bedroom to start so that the cats can slowly get to know your existing cat(s). We do go over best practices for fostering.

How Long Does a Cat Stay in Foster Care?

The foster stay varies with each cat. Cats with special needs may need to stay in foster care a bit longer. Foster homes control how long they are able to foster.

    How Much Does it Cost?

Necessary veterinary care is provided by authorized veterinarians and paid for by 13th Street Cats.

While we appreciate your donation of quality cat food or litter for your foster, we will happily provide them to you if you prefer. Litter boxes, toys, etc. are provided by 13th Street Cats.
