    Description

Two hours a week can change a life! Become a literacy tutor at Monrovia Public Library.

The Monrovia Public Library Literacy Program is recruiting volunteer tutors to help adults to improve their basic literacy skills, accomplish career goals, read to their children, prepare for U.S. citizenship processes, and to be more engaged in society.

    This volunteer opportunity involves:

    • Meeting with your learner twice a week for 1-2 hours each session.
    • Preparing materials for your learner.
    • Being creative and patient in assisting your learner
    • Tracking progress through monthly online reports.
    • Committing to tutor training workshops (both in-person and online).

For more information, email literacyservices@monroviaca.gov or call 626-256-8264. If selected as a tutor, you will receive an orientation and training at no cost to you. Once training is completed, you will be matched with an adult learner or help with one of our small groups. Tutor sessions will be scheduled at your convenience, once or twice a week for up to 1.5 hours per session.

Thank you for your commitment to helping community members transform their lives. We hope to hear back from you soon!
