    4–5 hours per week, including a 45-minute remote team meeting. Each week you’ll be on a live call with our incarcerated Team, alongside a fun, talented group of outside professionals. Bay Area volunteers are welcome to join the team inside SQ. .

    Grant Writers Wanted: Use Your Skills to Change Prison Culture

    San Quentin SkunkWorks — an incarcerated-led innovation lab inside California’s most famous prison — is looking for experienced grant writers. From world-class murals featured in CalMatters to Transformative Gaming events covered by the LA Times and Chess.com, our projects are transforming prison culture. Now we need your expertise to grow.

    The Role

    • Lead one proposal at a time with full staff support.
    • Join a 45-min weekly Zoom to coordinate.
    • ~5–10 hrs/month. Remote; Bay Area writers may also collaborate directly with our inside Impact Team.

    Who You Are

    • Proven track record securing foundation, corporate, or government grants.
    • Strong writing, research, and deadline management.
    • Organized, collaborative, and committed to results.
