SOUTHAMPTON: Volunteer Drivers Needed

Volunteer Drivers play a hugely important role in the work of Communicare in Southampton. Whether you can offer 1hr a week or 20hrs, we want to hear from you! We are seeking committed, reliable individuals who own their own vehicles, to pick up people who can't use public transport and take them to their required destination. Often these are older people who would otherwise be unable to go out. It's as simple as that, although many people like to chat with our volunteers en-route, so this is an important part of the role.

You don't need to sign up to a regular 'shift', we send out details of transport requests and you reply to say if you are available to help.

Every volunteer driver makes an immense difference to the lives of those they support and we urgently need more volunteers to enable us to continue to provide this important service. We reimburse mileage.

We also offer regular (optional) training, get-togethers, office-based support, and the chance to make a difference by helping those in need in our community.

What are we looking for?

• Use of own vehicle - Full driving licence - Willing to provide references - Friendly and caring attitude - Spare time to give on a regular basis (but you don't need to commit to a regular time slot. This role will require a DBS check which we will organise and pay for.
