    Join Empowered Futures as a UX Design Researcher and help shape the future for emerging adults as they transition into adulthood. We are a forward-thinking nonprofit committed to building confident, emotionally intelligent, and resourceful young adults through self-empowerment, mentorship, and community support.

    Job Summary

    We are seeking a user-centric and detail-oriented UX Design Researcher to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for planning and conducting user research that helps drive product decisions and improve the user experience. You’ll work closely with designers, product managers, and engineers to uncover user needs and behaviors, ensuring our products are intuitive, accessible, and effective.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Design and execute qualitative and quantitative research studies (e.g., usability testing, interviews, surveys, diary studies).
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify research goals and define user research strategies.
    • Analyze and synthesize findings into actionable insights and present results to stakeholders.
    • Develop personas, journey maps, and other user-centered design artifacts.
    • Advocate for the user by communicating insights across the organization.
    • Collaborate with designers and product teams to iterate on solutions based on user feedback.
    • Stay current on UX research trends, tools, and best practices.
    • Manage and maintain a repository of research findings and participant data.

    Qualifications

    Required:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Human-Computer Interaction, Psychology, Anthropology, Design, or a related field.
    • 2+ years of experience conducting UX research in a product or digital environment.
    • Proficiency in user research methods, usability testing, and user-centered design principles.
    • Strong analytical skills and experience turning complex data into clear insights.
    • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
    • Familiarity with research tools such as UserTesting, Maze, Dovetail, Optimal Workshop, or similar.

    Preferred:

    • Bachelor’s degree or certificate in Human-Centered Design or a related field.
    • Experience working in Agile or Lean UX environments.
    • Basic knowledge of design or prototyping tools (e.g., Figma, Sketch, InVision).
    • Experience in accessibility research or working with diverse user populations.

    Must be able to attend mandatory bi-weekly meetings. This is a part-time, unpaid position (5-8 hours a week).
