    Nurses Needed: Making Medical Care Accessible to the Underserved in North Everett

    The volunteer "Nurse" position at Lahai may be filled by RNs, LPNs, MAs, CNAs and EMTs. Nurses ensure high quality care to Lahai patients during clinic hours. Nurses work alongside our medical providers taking patients’ vital signs, performing point-of-care tests, and assisting in the exam room, within their scope of practice.

    Lahai values and treats our patients from a holistic point of view, always maintaining the patient’s dignity and showing respect to them and their family. Free malpractice insurance is available if you have a license. Lahai will assist volunteers with this insurance.

    Lahai offer's clinics in multiple locations including North Seattle, Lynnwood, Alderwood, Everett and with our Mobile Medical Unit we are able to open new clinic locations as needed.

    Job Description

    POSITION TITLE: Volunteer Nurse

    CONTACT: Volunteer Manager, Rebecca Davinroy-Dixon (rebeccad@lahai.org)

    PURPOSE: The nurse position at Lahai may be filled by RNs, LPNs, MAs, CNAs and EMTs, working alongside medical providers to give high quality care to Lahai patients during clinic hours. Lahai values and treats our patients from a holistic point of view, always maintaining the patient’s dignity and showing respect to them and their family. Free malpractice insurance is available if you have a license. Lahai will assist volunteers with this insurance.

    MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

      • Assist with set-up and clean-up of exam rooms and nursing stations.
      • Assist with patient check-in and check-out process.
      • Maintain appropriate charting in Lahai’s EHR, Practice Fusion.
      • Take patient vital signs and review patient history.
      • Assist patient with completing clinic forms as needed.
      • Perform urine dipsticks, blood glucose checks, PHQ2 screening, and other point of care tests as indicated and within your skill set, training and scope of practice.
      • Assist with patient prescriptions by identifying pharmacy and discount resources that meet the patient’s needs.
      • Provide patient education when appropriate.
      • Assist staff Nurse Case Manager with other supportive clinic tasks as needed.
      • Notify staff Nurse Case Manager if there is a concern or critical issue.
      • Assist with orienting new volunteers when appropriate.
      • Assist providers when needed.

    SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

      • Appropriate license, registration, certificate and training for this position (RN, LPN, MA, CNA, EMT).
      • Computer competency and ability to use EHR.
      • Exceptional organizational and time management skills and attention to detail.
      • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
      • Patience while working with others.
      • Strict observation of clinic policies, including patient confidentiality – HIPAA.

    TRAINING PROVIDED:

    We will provide training on our Electronic Health Record and an orientation shift.
