    Description

Habitat for Humanity event photographer: commit to just one event, or do more! You might get fed too

West Tuality Habitat for Humanity believes affordable housing plays a critical role in strong and stable communities and is a foundation for breaking the cycle of poverty. Our programs not only build homes, they build community.

Have a smart phone and know how to use it to take high resolution photos? Or have a digital camera? West Tuality Habitat for Humanity, serving Western Washington County, Oregon, would welcome you as a volunteer to come out for 2 or 3 hours to any event of your choosing and take photos. Event examples:

    • home building event
    • home repairs in action
    • neighborhood cleanups (usually on Saturdays)
    • home dedications (usually on weekends)
    • benefit & auction event (Saturday evening event with dinner)
    • special meeting at the Habitat offices (usually a weekday morning)
    • ReStore summer special event

You can volunteer at just one event or volunteer at multiple events. And we'll give you lots of guidance for what we want.

After taking photos, you will promptly upload them to Google Photos or other shared volunteering space (we prefer this happen on the same day that the photos are taken) and West Tuality Habitat will use these photos on our web site, on social media and in various outreach materials and reports. We also strongly encourage you to follow West Tuality Habitat for Humanity on Facebook and Instagram and YouTube and to view our web site to learn more about us and see how we use such photos.

This is a great way to be a part of the excitement of Habitat for Humanity and see and hear the impact of our programs.

Prospective volunteer photographers go through an interview with one of our staff members either onsite at our offices or by video conference, sign a waiver, and must follow our Code of Conduct, which is available on our web site. During service, volunteers are representatives of Habitat for Humanity and our mission. In addition to complying with all laws, regulations and Habitat for Humanity policies.

Serious applicants only! Please do not sign up for this opportunity unless you can commit to being at the event and staying until the end - about 2-3 hours.

We will provide the exact location to you for any event once you have been onboarded as the volunteer (the address on VolunteerMatch is our office address - most events are NOT at our office). You are responsible for your own transportation.

We are happy to sign off on any paperwork if you undertake this role for a class or if you want to do this for assigned community service.

We already involve volunteers in most aspects of our house-building and home repairs (and you are welcomed to do that too!) - but we want the community involved and invested even more in what we do, and a way to do that is involving more volunteers. In addition, we want to keep as much of our finances as possible into those home-building and home repair activities, to support vulnerable families in Western Washington County, Oregon. We have more volunteering opportunities listed on our web site at www.westualityhabitat.org
