Position Title: Volunteer - Therapeutic Activity Support

    Location: Phoenix, AZ

Time Commitment: Flexible (Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM-4:00 PM) | Ongoing or One-time Opportunities Available

    Contact: Kylie Watson - kwatson@theopportunitytree.org

    Description:

The Opportunity Tree is a nonprofit organization supporting older adults with early-stage dementia and individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD). We are excited to offer individuals the chance to gain volunteer hours in a non-traditional community setting focused on psychosocial well-being and meaningful community engagement.

This opportunity allows students to work directly with program participants in a variety of recreational and therapeutic activities such as yoga, seated dance, cornhole, bingo, trivia, Scattergories, and more. Volunteers will support social participation, engagement, and quality of life while gaining insight into the role of an Occupational Therapist in a community-based setting.

    Benefits:

    • Hands-on experience with older adults and individuals with IDD

    • Exposure to non-traditional Occupational Therapy practice

    • Opportunities to observe leadership and supervisory roles of an Occupational Therapist

    • Enhance communication, activity adaptation, and group facilitation skills

    • Build meaningful connections and contribute to a mission-driven program

    Ideal For:

    • Students/individuals interested in dementia care, IDD, or community-based OT

    • Those seeking volunteer hours or exposure to psychosocial practice

    • Future OTs wanting to explore therapeutic engagement outside of traditional clinical environments
