Volunteer with our Food Pantry Program

Bagging canned and nonperishable food items, Bagging Produce and Meat for walkup and home delivery clients.

Why: Your volunteer efforts directly assist low-income families and homebound and disabled seniors by providing them greatly needed food each month.

Who: The Food Pantry Program at First AME Church of Los Angeles is a project of the Sarah Allen Women's Missionary Society to provide low income families with groceries on the fourth Saturday of each month, January through October. November and December volunteers are needed on the third Saturday of the month to assist with the holday feeding. This includes van deliveries to the homebound and disabled senior clients requesting aid as well as walkup clients from the community.

What to Expect: Five volunteers are needed maximum per month.. Arrival time is 7:00am to help with the bagging of groceries and produce for the home deliveries. Volunteers are also needed for the walk up clients; food will distributed promptly at 9:00am.

What's Required:

Volunteers who are healthy and showing no signs of illness.

Volunteers who are not members of high-risk groups for COVID-19 (high risk groups include those 60+, with underlying health conditions, or who are pregnant).

Volunteers age 18 or older

Must wear gloves (and masks preferred) while serving clients and handling grocery items. (Gloves will be provided onsite if volunteer does not have any)
