    Description

    Museum Front Desk/Gift Shop Volunteer

Looking to get out of the house and give back to your community? We have the perfect opportunity! The Roanoke History Museum and O. Winston Link Museum are seeking friendly, reliable volunteers to help in our museum gift shop and front desk - a small commitment that makes a big difference.

    As a volunteer, you'll:

    • Greet and assist visitors from all over the world

    • Handle admissions and gift shop sales

    • Share local tips and stories about the area

    • Enjoy train watching from the museum windows

    • Have quiet time for reading or relaxing during slow periods

No special experience needed - we’ll provide all the training! This is a low-stress, welcoming role that supports our small museum team in preserving Roanoke’s history and enhancing the visitor experience.

    Current volunteer shifts available:

    • Tuesday Afternoons (1 PM - 4:30 PM)

    • Wednesday Afternoons (1 PM - 4:30 PM)

Whether you’re a history buff, a train enthusiast, or just someone who enjoys good conversation and giving back, we’d love to have you on board!

Please note: We are not able to accept volunteers needing to fulfill court-mandated community service hours.
