    Description

Chicagoland! Come help us pack 50,000+ pounds of surplus food on Oct 17, 2025

About us: FoodRecovery.org powered by MEANS Database is an online platform connecting those with excess food, like grocery stores, warehouses and restaurants with nearby emergency food providers. In less than a minute, food donors of all sizes can find a charity that will use their unsold food to feed those in need. Our organization has two major goals: to reduce food waste and reroute that food to feed people facing food insecurity. FoodRecovery.org has been working in the anti-hunger space since 2015 and has adapted to meet the needs of clients and those in need. FoodRecovery.org was founded with the belief that it should be easy for those with excess food to share it with those in need. Since then, we’ve grown to having more than 4,215 users and have recovered over 180 million pounds of food.

Volunteer Opportunity: We are recruiting 80 volunteers to help pack up 50,000-70,000 pounds of surplus food to be donated after the NACS Show in Chicago on Friday 10/17/25 from 11am - 7pm at McCormick Place (downtown Chicago). Donated food will likely be going to: Shepherd's Hope - Food Distribution Center, Breakthrough, Greater Chicago Food Depository and Mission of Our Lady of the Angels.

    Lunch and t-shirts provided.
