Seeking Structural or Mechanical Engineer for Geodesic Dome Autodesk Inventor Simulations

One Community is a nonprofit all-volunteer sustainability think tank. Our volunteer team fluctuates between 150-200 team members and has included over 1200 volunteers representing more than 60 different countries. We create open source sustainability-focused components covering food, energy, housing, education, and more. Read the specifics of how and why here: https://www.onecommunityglobal.org/overview/

We are seeking a Structural/Mechanical Engineer with excellent skills in Autodesk Inventor to help finish our engineering team's FEA process for the hub connectors to be used in the dome designs for this structure: https://www.onecommunityglobal.org/duplicable-city-center

    SKILL REQUIREMENTS

    • Access to and above-average proficiency in using Autodesk Inventor for simulation, fluent in Static and Dynamic simulations

    • A computer capable of running the simulations, ideally this or better: 64-bit Intel or AMD CPU with 6 cores, Windows 10 or 11, 64 GB of RAM, and a mid-range GPU (such as RTX 2070)
    • Able to communicate and collaborate effectively in a remote work environment
    • Comfortable with or willing to learn Google Docs and Dropbox for collaboration
    • Willing to commit 10+ weekly volunteer hours for at least 2 months (remote work)

    • Design 2: U-shaped/ring hub connector

Perform A) static analysis of the dome with the hub connectors to determine the structure strength and B) dynamic simulations to test wind and snow loads.
