    Description

Meals from the Heart: Make meals for our guest families (Portland South Waterfront House)

Come bring your family, friends or co-workers to cook a meal for families of critically ill and injured children when they need it the most. All of our families are traveling more than 30 miles away from their home and communities of support and our meal volunteers help feed them and give them comfort in their home away from home.

You provide the ingredients to make the meal and decide what to cook! Our staff are experts on what to make and are always happy to give suggestions.

    Making the meal:

    • All Meals from the Heart dinner shifts are from 4 - 7pm. The dinner is served buffet style.
    • You will be cooking for about 50 guests at the South Waterfront House. If possible, please tell us what you plan on making a week prior to your shift; we love to let our families know what to expect for dinner.
    • Please bring all necessary ingredients with you. All preparation must happen onsite at one of our Houses or in a commercial kitchen. Due to food safety guidelines, no food may be prepared in a home kitchen - no exceptions.
    • We have the utensils you need. Our kitchens are fully stocked. You do not need to bring your own utensils unless you need a unique or uncommon tool.

If dinner time doesn't work for you - ask us about our Freezer Friends program!

**All volunteers must be 13 years or older and fully vaccinated (14 days past their final shot).

    1 shift available:

    • You can bring 1 - 5 people for this opportunity depending on your comfort level with cooking!: 16:00 to 19:00 PST
