Role Overview
The Fundraising and Grants Head (unpaid Volunteer) assists the Director of Fundraising in developing and implementing a comprehensive multi-year funding strategy that encompasses diverse income streams.
Duties and Responsibilities
Strategy and Leadership
Assists the Director of Fundraising to:
- Develop and drive a multi-year fundraising strategy to support the organisation's growth ambitions.
- Create and maintain the fundraising pipeline, keeping it up to date in the CRM in collaboration with other Volunteers and staff members.
- Lead on fortnightly Business Development meetings to keep everyone aligned and updated.
- Lead on the development of new income streams, including government procurement opportunities and individual donations.
- Work closely with the Board of Directors to establish and leverage networks and opportunities.
Trusts and foundations
- Work closely with the Director of Trusts and Foundations to steward relationships and lead on applications for six-figure-plus, multi-year grants, contracts, and donations to trusts and foundations, as well as development aid agencies and UN agencies.
Corporate and Partnerships
- Collaborate with the Director of Corporate and Partnerships to write and submit proposals and applications for corporate sponsorship, EU funding and multi-country project partners.
- Work closely with the Partnership Director to build and steward partnerships.
Statutory funding
- Assists the Director of Statutory Funding to ensure systems are up to date on the potential avenues for statutory funding, are administratively prepared for tendering processes and bids.
- Identify and achieve activities to become the UK statutory local authority's preferred provider for services and adhere to framework agreements.
Individual Giving and Legacy funding
- Work with the Director of Individual Giving and Legacy to develop individual giving and legacy giving income streams.
Line Management duties
- Line managing a small team of Volunteer Grants Managers and Writers.
What are we looking for?
Essential Skills, knowledge, and behaviours:
- Degree in any subject that supports writing skills, analytical and research. A postgraduate degree would be a bonus.
- At least three years of experience with a proven track record of developing and delivering successful fundraising strategies at a senior level.
- Proven track record of meeting or exceeding income targets across multiple income streams.
- Experience managing multiple income streams, including statutory income, individual, corporate, and grant fundraising
- Strong leadership and people management skills with experience developing high-performing teams
- Excellent relationship-building skills with the ability to engage a wide range of stakeholders
- Financial acumen, including budgeting, reporting, and performance analysis
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including bid writing and donor presentations
- Strategic thinker with a proactive, innovative, and resilient approach
- Knowledge of fundraising regulation, GDPR, and best practice in supporter stewardship
