If you want to make a difference in the lives of local seniors, consider joining our team of friendly volunteers who help keep seniors connected to their community! Our mission is to preserve the independence, dignity, and quality of life for seniors in McHenry County who live at home or with loved ones. Just one hour of your time can provide invaluable support!
McHenry County has the third-largest senior population in the state of Illinois. Many homebound seniors live independently but are unable to drive or lack access to a car, relying on our volunteers to transport them to important appointments, such as medical visits, or to run essential errands like grocery shopping. Our grant-funded transportation services, provided at no cost, are crucial for these individuals.
Volunteering with the Senior Care Volunteer Network (SCVN) is flexible and can be tailored to fit your schedule. Much like rideshare services, there is no long-term commitment or minimum number of hours required; you can choose which rides, days, and times work best for you.
Drivers must be at least 25 years old and possess a valid driver's license and insurance. We provide comprehensive training and background checks at no cost to you, and mileage reimbursement is available to help cover travel expenses. Please note that all rides take place within McHenry County only.
A senior is waiting for your assistance, and your help would be greatly appreciated! If you're interested in learning more, please send us your information, and our volunteer coordinator will follow up to answer your questions and arrange a training appointment.
Thank you for considering the Senior Care Volunteer Network!
