    Description

Arts Administrative Assistant - Muffled Voices Opera Festival

Muffled Voices is an international opera festival produced by Lyrica Classic, a global 501(c)(3) nonprofit music organization. The festival celebrates and stages operas by women composers — works that have been historically silenced or overlooked — and brings their stories to audiences worldwide.

Our next U.S. season will open November 22, 2025, in Maryland with two powerful chamber operas, including the U.S. premiere of Baruch’s Silence, based on a Holocaust diary. We are looking for a detail-oriented and reliable Arts Administrative Assistant to support our work starting immediately through the end of the year, with a minimum three-month commitment.

What You’ll Do (you can apply for one or more of these areas)

    • Assist with scheduling, document preparation, and email correspondence.
    • Help coordinate rehearsals, meetings, and logistics for artists and production teams.
    • Maintain project files and track deadlines.
    • Support grant and sponsorship outreach with basic research or follow-up communications.
    • Assist with box office coordination and audience services.

    What We’re Looking For

    • Strong organizational and communication skills.
    • Proficiency with Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Drive); experience with project management tools is a plus.
    • Attention to detail and ability to work independently.
    • Interest in the performing arts, cultural events, or nonprofit work.

    Why Join Us?

    • Play a vital behind-the-scenes role in bringing meaningful, world-class productions to life.
    • Be part of an international festival with a powerful mission to amplify the voices of women composers.
    • Learn first-hand how opera productions are created — from concept to curtain call — and gain real-world experience in the opera theatre industry.
    • Discover what it takes to produce complex, multi-artist projects in the performing arts world.
    • Flexible schedule — approx. 5-10 hours per week, remote or local to Maryland/DC.
    • Receive a certificate recognizing your contribution as Arts Administrative Assistant (or another relevant title) after your service.
    • Opportunity to continue working with us beyond the volunteer period, potentially in a paid role.

If you’re organized, dependable, and want to help make the arts more inclusive, we’d love to hear from you. Please send your CV and a short cover letter to info@lyricaclassic.org, and we’ll arrange a Zoom call to discuss.
