Nursery volunteers assist our Animal Care Staff by doing laundry, washing dishes, cleaning cages, walking tortoises, preparing diets, assembling syringes, sweeping/mopping floors, and other general hospital cleaning. These tasks are really important because they make up the bulk of the animal care, making sure that we have clean blankets for animals to snuggle into and clean food bowls for their diets.
After completing 30 hours, volunteers have the opportunity to join the Release Team and help take animals back to their homes after they are done with their rehabilitation.
After 100 hours, volunteers may be able to help in other areas based on their reliability and skill level.
Volunteers are assigned to a weekly shift (ex. every Monday morning, Saturday afternoon, etc.) and must do a minimum of two shifts per month.
