    Description

    Volunteer as an ASL Interpreter with the L.A LGBT Center and foster a more inclusive and accessible environment for indidiviuals in the LGBTQ Community!

    Why: ASL Interpreters ensure that Deaf and hard-of-hearing individuals can fully engage in the Los Angeles LGBT Center's programs and events. Your efforts directly support the Center's mission to create a welcoming space for everyone in the LGBTQ community.

    Who: The Los Angeles LGBT Center is an unstoppable force in the fight against bigotry and the struggle to build a better world; a world in which LGBTQ people can be healthy, equal, and complete members of society.

    What to Expect:

    Volunteers will provide ASL interpretation during Center events and activities, including workshops, programming, and announcements.

    Shifts are flexible and can be chosen in advance, with opportunities to work in both large and small event settings.

    Volunteers will collaborate with event organizers and represent the Center with professionalism and respect.

    What's Required:

    Volunteers must create a Volunteer Resources account on the Los Angeles LGBT Center Website and activate it by attending an information session.

    Volunteers must be fluent in American Sign Language and have the ability to interpret in diverse settings.

    Certification in ASL interpretation is preferred but not required, and prior experience is a plus.

    Volunteers must commit to scheduled events as agreed upon, with shifts available during the week and some weekends.
