    Description

Read with a Refugee Child! Help them learn English - Grades k-12, college

We are excited to announce a wonderful opportunity to make a positive impact on students' lives and provide them with essential support in their academic journey.

We are seeking dedicated volunteers to assist students with English as a Second Language (ESL) and homework help from kindergarten through college levels. Your commitment and expertise can make a significant difference in helping students achieve their educational goals.

This is an organization that helps refugee students in Milwaukee to be more fluent in English and provide resources to succeed. We directly serve students ranging from kindergarten through college.

    Why Volunteer with Us?

    • Impact: Your support can empower students to improve their language skills and succeed academically.
    • Community Building: Join a community of like-minded individuals passionate about education and giving back.
    • Flexible Commitment: We understand your busy schedule, and we offer flexible volunteer hours (two sessions weekly), to suit your availability.
    • Personal Growth: Enhance your teaching, mentoring, and communication skills while making a positive impact.

    Volunteer Responsibilities:

    • Provide ESL tutoring to students at various levels.
    • Assist with homework assignments and projects.
    • Foster a positive and encouraging learning environment.
    • Adapt to the unique needs of each student.
    • Share your knowledge and passion for learning.

    Requirements:

    • Proficiency in English.
    • Patience, empathy, and a passion for helping others

We have sessions on Tuesdays from 6-8pm and Saturdays from 10am-noon

We encourage volunteers of all ages to help! Our students range from kindergarten through college. You don't need to have any special training to help these wonderful students, they are learning and practicing English and appreciate the help!

This is an optional program for our students, meaning they attend because they sincerely want to improve. They want to succeed in the classroom, make new friends, and understand our culture.

Our students show real improvement over short periods of time. Sign up and volunteer to give more students the opportunity to do better in school and in making friends.

    Our Program meets:

    Tuesdays 6:00 - 8:00pm

    Saturdays 10:00am - noon

You can choose which day you would like to volunteer or choose to volunteer on both days if you would like.
